Leading For Change- Anika Molesworth

May 21, 2021

In today’s podcast episode I speak with a true Rural Rockstar, Anika Molesworth, from Broken Hill, New South Whales.

Anika is a passionate farmer, a scientist, and a storyteller, working relentlessly to create a better future.

Anika’s story is relatively different from those who are born and raised on regional land. Anika was born, and spent the first 12 years of her life in Melbourne, paying little to no attention to the food brought home to her, or the weather as it frequently changed. When Anika was 12 her parents relocated to far Western New South Whales, where they would buy a farm, and begin to introduce us to animals, how we get the food on our plate, and more. Devastatingly the decade that was 2000-2010 there was a drawn on draught. This drought is what would change the narrative of Anika’s life.

Anika sought out information to find out how, without rain, and with the ever-changing climate, she could maintain a healthy farm, that could support and sustain the population. Her learnings have now helped thousands of farmers across Australia better understand how they can manage, and how they can work differently, to help sustain the land.

The tale of Anika is filled with tales of obstacles, and feeling little in a large herd of often, male dominate communities. Anika rose above, and today she shares how she did that with us.
